Rivers of Athens
My latest work covers my involvement in the rivers of Athens.
It is a photographic work that started in 2016 and which I re-approached in 2018 and 2019, on the occasion of the Re-Search photographic workshop.Athens is yet another capital city that is crossed by rivers. In recent history, however, those who had the political power sought to hide the rivers of Athens and mostly managed to limit or control their energy. The rivers of Athens were considered a threat to the urban fabric and the ensuing technical interventions offered very limited possibility for their visual and aesthetic interaction with the environment. Also, the inhabitants were deprived of their interaction with the rivers. At the very few points of the city that the rivers are revealed, they are considered dump or rubbish sites. I dedicate these photos to those who cannot see the rivers of Athens.
